Experience

Tonya Brummett is a certified public accountant, licensed in the state of Georgia and a member of the American Institute of CPAs, as well as the Georgia Society of CPAs, and a QuickBooks ProAdvisor. She has over fifteen years’ experience, in both public accounting and private industry with clients primarily in the contracting, nonprofit, manufacturing, retail, restaurant, medical and technology industries.

Prior to establishing Tonya Brummett, CPA, Tonya worked with Bennett Thrasher, LLP, an Atlanta based full service accounting firm. Tonya joined Bennett Thrasher in 2007. While there she was a manager within the Client Accounting Services department. Duties included managing financial reporting engagements as well as reviewing those engagements to ascertain that Firm and professional standards were met and occasionally assisted with audit engagements. Additionally, Tonya was involved in the training and development of staff.

Before joining Bennett Thrasher, Tonya completed the Internal Audit Leadership Program with The Home Depot. This is a multi-functional rotational program encompassing finance and accounting, merger and acquisitions, global sourcing, operations and marketing using Six Sigma and business process review methodologies. She also taught introductory accounting courses at Southern Polytechnic State University and worked as an Audit Staff and Senior with Bennett Thrasher.

Education
Tonya currently holds a Master’s of Science in Accountancy from Appalachian State University’s Cratis D. Williams Graduate School, and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting from Appalachian State University. While completing her Masters’ studies, she was named recipient of the Master’s Program Award for the accounting class. While studying as a graduate student at Appalachian State University she also completed the CPA exam, and worked as a graduate assistant, performing research and tutoring students. While studying as an undergraduate at Appalachian State University, she completed a busy season internship at Andersen.

Girls Scouts Troop Leader, 2012-2015, current Girl Scout Adult Member and Volunteer

Former volunteer activities include KaBoom playground builds, Habitat for Humanity home builds and Junior Achievement classes which focus on financial literacy of our youth.
